Companies House identity verification is now a legal requirement, and it's catching a lot of small company directors by surprise. If you're a director or a person with significant control (PSC) of a UK company, you need to verify your identity — you only do it once, and you receive a Companies House personal code. Directors provide their personal code in the company's next confirmation statement, while PSCs have a 14-day window to provide theirs. You can verify yourself for free through GOV.UK One Login, or an accountant registered as an authorised agent can do it for you. It's an offence not to comply, so don't leave it until your confirmation statement is due — get verified now and keep your personal code safe.
